While I understand what Dennis is saying, I fully agree with Kevin's
comments.
I know many occupational health nurses who are bogged down in routine at
work to the degree that they do not have time to deal with wider issues.
However, while time spent looking through health questionnaires or giving
hepatitis B vaccines may be an important part of occupational health
nursing, if we are to be seen as being more than an agent hired by the
employer to protect him from being taken to court by his employees, if we
want to be seen as agents for improvement in the working environment
globally, then we shall have to re-think our priorities.
Heed Ramazzini, who suggests that you leave your clinic "which is usually
redolent of cinnamon [or whatever scent is currently in fashion], where you
linger as in your own domain, and come to the latrines."
