Production, Distribution, and Consumption. December theme of the month
At the Curating New Media Symposium at the Ottawa Art Gallery
(co-organised by Critical Media), the discussion ranges through
Production, Distribution, and Consumption and is intended to bring
together artists, venues, funders and audiences to engage in discussions
about the state of creation and exhibition of new media works in today's
climate. The questions: How can new media curators be effective at each
of these three stages? Is it true that we have a reluctance to, as
critic and founder of artnetweb Rob Murphy writes: "complicate the
relationship between art and curatorship to include a broader picture of
the world beyond artists, venues, funders and audiences"? Are there
practical examples that can be shared that illuminate the particular
difficulties and joys of each of these essential steps in launching a
new media project into the world?
Invited Respondents: Participants of Curating New Media Symposium at the
Ottawa Art Gallery: Jean Gagnon, Catherine Richards, Michelle Kasprazak,
Liane Davison, Kathleen Pirrie-Adams, Skawennati Tricia Fragnito,
