hello all -
we have spoken some time ago about
'how to present interactive art to the public in 'rooms'' -
- to bring visitors to use the 'installations'
- to initiate reflection about 'user habits'
- ...
here a little (fast) sketch i made today
with some explanation
an exhibition concept -
three rooms (room is meant as an abstract here - but can be concrete room,
too) - the visitor has to walk thru ...
room 1: dark - video projections running on the walls (movie)
room 2: demi-light - backlite projections
room 3: light (diffuse) - with interactive installations in seperate places
(ie - white tents of glossy, semi transparent cotton - that the visitors
still are visible but get the feeling of intimacy)
pictures of the installations used by visitors are projected as stills in
room2 - while (maybe) parts of the videos in room 1 are part of the
interactive installations.
some more explanations:
light - while looking at movies you are in a black room (the cinema)
in opposite the last room will be light (broken light).
(the background of a movie is ideally black - while for a computer piece is
ideally white // projection in a dark room is _philosophically {think at
Plato's cave}_ another experience than 'reading a white screen')
movement - you have to walk, stand in room 1 (which is contrary to the
experience of movies - but the same as in museums looking at video
installations) --- in room 3 you can sit down the pieces in a
'virtual-intimate' situation what you have to move is your finger
(mouse/touchscreen).
sound - the sound is loud in room 1 while room 3 is silent (but you can use
headphones ...) - its the way from outer to inner experince - highlighting
the mindy experience in room 3.
here is a sketch (a 50k download)
