POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THEORETICAL PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY
A postdoctoral position is available in my group, starting
immediately. Funding is available for several projects.
One project involves the modeling of Eley-Rideal reactions,
in which gas phase atoms react with a surface-adsorbed species
(see JCP 114, 474, 2001, and references therein). Reactions
between H atoms on Cu(111), Ni(100) and graphite have been
examined. Studies of reactions involving subsurface H
are in progress. Studies of H atom recombinative desorption,
and the dissociation of CH4 and N2 on metals, are planned.
Our methods include classical dynamics, quantum scattering,
electronic structure calculation via DFT, and reduced density
matrix formulations for including dissipation.
The position is initially available for one year, and is
renewable by mutual consent.
