Dear all,
One of our students here is trying to find references on the benefits or
otherwise of a specific area of practice. She is looking at the issue of
doctors asking nurses to remove indwelling urinary catheters in the middle
of a course of antibiotics - why at this time specifically and whether it
makes a difference when the catheter is removed. I tried various
combinations of search strategies on Cochrane, Medline and Cinahl and found
plenty of stuff about the time of day of removal and type of catheter etc,
but nothing specific on catheter removal DURING antibiotic courses.
As a last resort, I wonder whether anyone has ever had to find information
on this, or whether any of you expert searchers can suggest any MeSH terms I
could try!
I have tried:
(Urinary-Catheterization or Catheter-Care-Urinary) and (Time-Factors or
Antibiotics or Premedication or Physician-Attitudes or
Urinary-Tract-Infection). I'm sure there's something I haven't thought of.
Any suggestions very gratefully received.
