I'm not sure what the aims of the group will actually be. It was stated that "The Diversity Council aims to unite library and information workers and to tackle social exclusion - particularly in the areas of race, culture and creed."
Professionals working in the library and information sector should be tackling social exclusion as part of their jobs anyway - surely this whole thing just boils down to the same old "censorship in libraries" debate? Or is this about librarians who feel themselves socially excluded wanting to come together as a separate group of the LA?
Could someone clarify that?
