1. An article detailing the development and integration of
moving image and sound resources into the DNER has been
published in "Media Online Focus", a printed and online
supplement to the BUFVC's (British Universities Film and
Video Council) "Viewfinder" magazine.
The article - "The DNER and Moving Images" - written by
Chair of the JISC's Moving Pictures and Sound Working
Group, Jeremy Atkinson, and Dr Philip Pothen, DNER
Communications Manager, outlines the activities of the
Working Group, the Learning and Teaching Development
projects that are developing moving image and sound
resources for the education community, the Performing Arts
Data Service, as well as other ongoing developments and

2. The launch of the Cochrane Library to the education
community took place on the 4th October at the British

The Cochrane Library is a collection of research-derived
information compiled by the Cochrane Collaboration, the NHS
Centre for Reviews and Dissemination and other leading
organisations and networks.The agreement to make the
Cochrane Library available to the education community has
been heralded as a landmark achievement both for JISC and
the NeLH.
Dr Muir Gray, Director of NeLH said at the launch: "One of
the missions of the NeLH is to provide easy access to best
current knowledge. For this reason we have sought to
identify and acquire high quality sources of knowledge that
are regularly updated. The Cochrane Library is one such
source."
