This is a very welcome development which would make the life of those who
try to manage electronic journals in a library so much easier. May I add
some pleas on related topics?
When publishers change their policy on online access with print, it could
affect libraries' decision whether or not to renew subscriptions. We
would very much like to have this information before renewal decisions
are made. Added to this we are noticing a large number of titles which
are changing publishers. It's possible that changes of publishers have
always happened but with print subscriptions libraries were often unaware
of and unaffected by such changes. With electronic access (with or
without print) a change of publishers could make a lot of difference -
including a loss of access to some journals completely.
This is where libraries depend on subscription agents to pass on relevant
information to us and publishers to provide this information in a timely
manner.
