Dear All,
At the University of Leicester we have received similar figures. I
think most institutions with Medical Schools would count as large.
We have decided to go over to print only from 2002. I have also had
confirmation that as a result we will not have access to previous years
online.

Subject: JNCI - change to online access from January 2002 <fwd>
Dear All,
We have received the following notice from OUP regarding
continued online access to Journal of the National Cancer
Institute in 2002. We have not received the renewal form
mentioned in the email but our journals agent has advised
us that the costs for our (large) institution will be as
follows:
Print and Internet Version: approx. 830 Pounds Sterling
Online Only Version: approx. 750 Pounds Sterling
Print Only Version: approx. 260 Pounds Sterling
This is a massive price increase. Online access to this
title has previously been freely availabe with a print
subscription. Has anyone else received similar figures and,
if you don't mind my asking, has anyone renewed at the full
print + internet price?
Kate Brunskill

In January 2002, Oxford University Press will launch JNCI Cancer
Spectrum,
an enhanced online version of the Journal of the National Cancer
Institute.
To continue to provide online access for your readers to the Journal of
the
National Cancer Institute from January, you will need to subscribe to
JNCI
Cancer Spectrum. We are sending you detailed information about this
change
together with your Journal of the National Cancer Institute subscription
renewal form, which you should receive in the next few days - either
from
OUP directly, or through your usual subscription agent. Please make
sure
your subscription purchasing department/personnel are aware of this
change,
so that they select JNCI Cancer Spectrum for renewal.
JNCI Cancer Spectrum will replace the Journal of the National Cancer
Institute Online and make the journal easier to use and more useful to
readers - as well as providing all the content of the Journal of the
National Cancer Institute online, there will be many additional features
and
functionality. It will contain extended news coverage (including weekly
updates), an easily searchable online calendar, and topical collections
of
highly cited articles, review articles, book reviews, and Stat Bites.
The
journal content is integrated with other sources of cancer information,
including cancer statistics, abstracts from other journals, drug
information, and cancer information summaries from the National Cancer
Institute's PDQ.
To order a subscription to JNCI Cancer Spectrum, please select this
option
on the leaflet enclosed with your Journal of the National Cancer
Institute
subscription renewal form - you should receive this within the next few
days. You can still choose to receive the Journal of the National
Cancer
Institute print edition, as well as JNCI Cancer Spectrum - you'll also
see
this option on the leaflet order form. There are different price levels
for
JNCI Cancer Spectrum, based on your number of FTEs - please note that
the
default price shown on the renewal form is for a large institute
(greater
than 7000 FTEs). Medium (1500-7000 FTEs) and small institutes (less
than
1500 FTEs) are entitled to lower subscription rates - use the leaflet
order
form enclosed with your renewal form to claim these lower rates.
Thank you for your attention.
