Subject: ERIL: e-journal database article
There's a fabulous article about this topic by Nicole Hennig at MIT.
The article is called "Improving Access to E-Journals and Databases
at the MIT Libraries:Building a Database-Backed Web Site Called
"Vera"" and it's to be published in a forthcoming issue of the
Serials Librarian. It's online at
http://www.hennigweb.com/publications/vera.html
Hennig discusses an e-journal database that was created for two
purposes. "Vera" was intended to help patrons and librarians locate
journals and to help librarians monitor licensing, access, and other
issues. The article talks about the kinds of fields used in this
Filemaker database in great detail.
It's well-written and presents an interesting look into the creation
of this kind of database.
