With apologies for cross-posting.
The Career Development Group (North and South Thames) invites you to
attend its 2001 Management Seminar series. Places are limited to 40,
so early booking is recommended.
SEMINAR DETAILS:
* Overcoming distance in the delivery of library services, with Christine
Love-Rodgers of the Open University and Mary Rowlatt of Essex Libraries
* Wednesday October 17
Mary and Christine will describe innovative approaches to overcoming
geographical access barriers to library services through the remote
delivery of electronic library services. SEAMLESS, a cutting edge public
library initiative, and the Open University's Open Libr@ry will be used
as case studies.
* Project management, with Val Dawson of Islington Libraries and Anna
Grundy of the British Library
* Tuesday November 20
These days it's hard to imagine any library job which does not demand the
application of project management skills. If you would like some guidance,
then why not come along to this session and pick up some top tips from
experienced professionals who have successfully led projects in their
organisations?
* Human resource management, with Anne McIlwaine of University College
London
* Monday December 3
No management series would be complete without a session devoted to human
resources issues. What is the best way to approach staff management? What
pitfalls should you avoid and how can you achieve the right balance
between being an effective manager and keeping all your other
responsibilities in check? These and other questions will be examined.
VENUE: All seminars will be held between 6-8 pm at the Engineering
Employers' Federation (EEF), Broadway House, Tothill Street, London.
Nearest tube station: St James's Park (Broadway exit). Map available on
request. Access code: W.
