If anyone would like to expand their knowledge of an area of librarianship
outside their own, why not come to the launch of Encore, a major new
resource for music.
The resource is an online catalogue of vocal and orchestral sets in UK
libraries, and is designed to allow libraries and music ensembles to locate
the sheet music they need using one free online database.
Encore is having its Northern launch on Tuesday 6th November 2001 at 4.00
p.m. at Leeds College of Music Library, 3 Quarry Hill, Leeds.
The programme will include a demonstration of Encore and an opportunity to
search the database. After the demonstration there will be food, drink and a
live band in the library. You will be welcome to look round the library at
this time.
If you are interested in attending, or would like further information,
please email me. If you are coming, I do need to know by November 1st.
Leeds College of Music is unique in this country. Unlike other
conservatoires, our students range from GCSE to post-grads, and our courses
cover classical, jazz, Indian and pop music, musical instrument making,
music technology, production and DJ technology. This is a rare opportunity
to visit a specialist music college library, why not come and join us.
