Dr Glueckauf will:
1. describe those factors within the UK and US healthcare systems that have
contributed to the development and growth of telehealth services;
2. provide information about the different types of equipment, commonly used
technologies and telecommunication systems that are currently used to
deliver telehealth services;
3. review pertinent outcome research on telecommunications-mediated
interventions in mental heath, healthcare psychology and rehabilitation;
4. discuss his current telehealth research projects involving at-risk teens
with disabilities and older adults with neurological disorders (eg stroke
and dementia);
5. offer future directions for conducting telehealth research and practice
with individuals who have chronic physical and mental disabilities;
6. discuss key ethical and regulatory issues in providing behavioural
telehealth services;
7. provide live demonstration of web-based education and support network for
caregivers of individuals with progressive dementia.
