Thanks, Paul, for your suggestion about 'Getting to know you'. Here goes for
me.
I'm currently a part-time Senior Academic Staff Development Officer at the
University of Leeds, and contribute there to the programmes for post-grads
who teach, as well as staff on the ILT Accredited Programmes. The other
three days per week I seem to work everywhere else, and am an acknowledged
expert on rail timetables! I'm one of ILT's nearly 10000 members, one of the
70 or so Accreditors, and one of the five elected Council Members at the
present time (more soon). My passion is assessment, but I'm also really
interested in study-skills development, flexible learning, and teaching
methods for both small and large groups of students. I used to be a chemist,
and also follow this through with work for British Safety Council running
sessions on substance hazards risk management. I write a lot (but should
point out that royalties for publications on teaching, learning and
assessment are small; one needs to be a fiction writer to make a living out
of writing, and I can't do that!). Further details of what I do, and some
downloadables (not least on how to join the ILT) are on my website at
www.Phil-Race.net (which is maintained by my son who knows about websites).
Cheers,
Phil
