This is an ideal opportunity to join RBKC's Property and Land
Applications Team (PLAT). The team comprises six full time posts
and is responsible for managing corporate Geographical
Information and the Land & Property Gazetteer, supporting users
and delivering GIS solutions. PLAT is also responsible for the
"Electronic Atlas" a corporate, intranet-based ArcIMS application.
This is a varied role with work split between
* delivering ad hoc services such as geographical analysis and
mapping (about 30% of your time)
* helping our GI data manager maintain and quality assure key GI (30%)
* supporting GIS users on-site and via our helpdesk (20%)
* helping our Land and Property Gazetteer custodian to maintain this
key resource (20%)
For this post you will ideally have one year's experience of
delivering Geographical Information Services (work
experience/course work considered). You will have had formal
training in one of our supported desktop GIS - ArcView, GGP or
MapInfo and be trained in a programming language such as VB,
Avenue or MapBasic. You should have experience of handling
geographical information and property data sets. You will also be
a proficient Microsoft Office user with particular strengths in
Access and Excel.
PLAT is part of the RBKC's Information Systems Division (ISD),
so you will be working alongside IT professionals. ISD is
committed to Continuous Improvement and Investors in People
and there will be good opportunities to develop your skills-set.
This is a fixed term contract with excellent prospects for renewal.
