JOB TITLE:   Territory Planner

DEPARTMENT:  Commercial Support

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Commercial Support Manager


MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To support the Sales and Merchandising functions of the Company by managing
the CACI route planning systems.

To be responsible for all territory planning projects and ensure that they
are completed in accordance with agreed schedules.

KEY TASKS

a) To manage the day to day running of the CACI system and to put
procedures in place to ensure that the data base is maintained with up to
date information at all times thus ensuring a high level of accuracy and
efficiency.

b) To work alongside the field management to ensure that the routes
created are real, and will work in the real world.

c) To ensure that all of the CACI packages are used to their full
potential.

d) To consistently search for improved systems, which will enhance the
overall efficiency of the department.

g) To help train any new users on the system

h) To ensure that we get it right first time


SECONDARY TASKS

a)  To provide cover for the Space Management department

d) To attend meetings with Field Management when required.

e) To attend internal meetings as and when required.

f) To ensure effective two way communication between the Territory
Planner and

 Merchandising
 Sales

g) Any other tasks requested by the Commercial Support Manager

j) Provide feedback on all major tasks associated with a) and b) of
key tasks on a daily basis.

k) To create and maintain all training manuals.



RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Finance - Failure to create balanced workloads may mean that calls are
missed and sales are lost




DECISION MAKING

To ensure all activity under ‘key tasks’ is pursued at minimum cost to the
Company in terms of ‘right first time’ and maximum benefit to the customer,
a recommendation for delay or cancellation should be made to the CSM if
there is a realistic risk of failure or extraordinary cost to the Company.

DEGREE OF FREQUENCY OF CONFIDENTIAL MATTER HANDLED

Regular handling of confidential customer details with access to all
Company files and some customer product files.

FREQUENCY AND CONTACT WITH OTHERS

Frequent liaison with Merchandising and Sales at all levels.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

IT knowledge
GIS (Geographical Information System) knowledge

EDUCATION SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE

a) Graduate
b) Good communication and liaison skills
c) Computer literate

AVERAGE TRAINING

Minimum of 1 Year but ongoing

LEVEL OF QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate standard or similar.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Busy office working under pressure to strict time scales

SPECIAL FACTORS

Holder must be intelligent, articulate and accurate, have a mature outlook
and be able to work on own initiative. Must be able to communicate at all
levels and make important Company decisions on a day to day basis. If needs
be this will involve negotiations with other departments to agree the work
time scales.

To be available outside normal business hours for contact/consultation with
the Sales team.
The post holder will be using his/her initiative constantly and will have
to deal with problems as they see fit.

Minimum 1 year with the Company to be fully aware of how the business runs.

People Specification – Territory Planner


The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
· Graduate within a numerate discipline
· Background in statistical analysis
· IT literate
· Excel
· Access
· Query (if possible)
· GIS (Geographical Information System) knowledge beneficial
· Commercial acumen
· Work experience or has passed a commercially related course
· Will be able to work to tight timescales and will stop to ensure
that the work gets done
· Team player
· Able to communicate with all levels of management
· Self motivated
There will be in house training on the CACI FieldForce planning software to
ensure that the successful candidate is proficient and able to utilise the
system to it’s full potential.
