Dear All
Many thanks to those who responded to my query about educational
use/accessibility of study collections. A couple of people asked me to
share examples, so below are some of the responses I received:
*There is a new research centre "Insight : The Collections and Research
Centre" at the National Museum of Film, Photography and Television in
Bradford.
*The Whipple Museum of History and Science is developing a Study Gallery to
complement their new Teaching Gallery.
*London Transport Museum have the Learning Centre with access to behind the
scenes collections.
*Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester has just opened its new
Collections Centre.
*Apparently, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum are planning an arts-based
discovery centre and are keen to undertake evaluation.
I have contact details for most of the above projects. Thanks again to
everyone who responded.
Esmé.
