Conference on Creating the Charter of European Rights: Participant
and Academic Perspectives, Florence 17 February 2001
This conference will take place on Saturday 17 February in the Aula Rossa of
the Dipartimento di Teoria e Storia del Diritto in P.za Indipendenza
9, Florence. The conference starts at 9.00. In the morning there will
be an open session with presentations by Pedro Bacelar de
Vasconcelos, Vice President of the commission repsonsible for
drafting the Charter and a representative of the Portuguese
government, Stefano Rodotà, Lord Bowness and Peter Altmaier,
respectively representatives on the same commission of the Italian
government, the British House of Lords and the German government. In
the afternoon there will be a closed discussion by invitation only.
The conference is free and the morning session open to all, but
participants must make their own accomodation and other arrangements.

The conference forms part of a European Commission funded TSER Thematic Network
on European Citizenship, the ESRC `One Europe or Several' project on
`Startegies of Civic Inclusion in Pan-European Civil Society', and an
Italian MURST project on Citizenship.
