As other respondants have said, we have been unable to locate anything
like this at the present time.
The solution with a cassette recorder is simple. You either use a switch to
interrupt an external power supply on any recorder with a mechanical
cassette mechanism or obtain one with a 'remote' socket used for turning
the recorder on and off from microphone.
The former would not work with a minidisc - it would simply reset it - and
we have not found any recorders with the latter facility.
In theory it should be possible for somebody to intercept the pause button
on the in-line remote control. However, these generally use custom connectors
and would require access to quite sophisticated construction facilities.
Let's hope manufacturers wake up to the un-tapped minidisc dictation
market soon!
