Have you tried running the display at a lower resolution. I think (just
based on observation) that the caret is always a single pixel wide. Dropping
down to 640x480 (from perhaps a more typical 1024x768) would nearly double
the thickness. Maybe that wouldn't be enough for your student though?
BTW, I thought Microsoft had promised a solution to this problem back in the
20th century when the (then) latest wizzy version of Windows or Office was
launched . Must have been my imagination!
