Dear Bruce Hollingworth,
I have joined the health-discuss web page today. I found you reply to
someone's e-mail about using DEA for applying in measuring the relative
efficiency. I a Ph.D student and in my first year at the University of
York, UK. I would like to work on the efficiency of of the primary
health care facility in my country (Bangladesh). You mentioned you have
list of reference. Can I get a copy.
I would like ask you one thing about use of DEA. Is it necessary for one
to be very sound in econometrics or mathematics for using such
methodology. My basic degree is Economics, and I studied Econometrics at
the Masters level. Basically I want to estimate the relative efficiency
of the health facilities and would like to determine the reasons for
efficiency using regression. My main aim is to determine the use of
inputs (particularly the manpower) and if possible to estimate the
marginal productivity of different types of manpower used.
I will be very grateful if you kindly take you time to answer my these
questions.
Thanks and best regards
