John,I don't know how reliable this is, but if it's true it is fascinating...

Taliban develop system to jam US transmission in AfghanistanIslamabad, Nov
6, IRNA -- Taliban militia has developed an indigenous system to
block American transmission network inside Afghanistan, reported a local
daily
Tuesday.
"Khabrain" said that in the eastern province of Kunar, a Taliban electrical
engineer stated that they have prepared a strategy to jam US transmission on
Afghan radio.
After it is made operational, American transmission will not work inside the
country, the Islamabad-based newspaper said further.
The Taliban engineer explained that mini-radio stations had been established
in
each province and most of these had already started functioning. The
daily
added on FM channel, transmissions will be heard across Afghanistan. The new
system can be shifted to any other place by even an individual, it noted.
