Dear All

It's mighty quiet around here...

I've been in the strange position of being without email access at work this
academic year, and have only just been able to get back on to the
cmhn-education-and-practice list. I'm aware that since the list opened up
(it was previously a 'closed' list for leaders of CMHN 'specialist practice'
courses only), lots of new people have joined. So, welcome!

I also have a specific request. We (colleagues at the School of Nursing and
Midwifery Studies at UWCM and myself) are looking to the development of a
new clinical practice assessment tool, for use with community nursing
students (CMHNs included)in the coming academic year. I'd like to share
ideas and find out what assessment tools other people use, and find out more
about what the pros/cons/rationale of different assessment methods are. I'm
also interested in whether or not the clinical practice component of
different courses is assessed on just a pass/fail basis, or whether it is
graded (ie, students are assessed as having practised at 'first class'
level, or '2.2' level, etc.). Here at UWCM we go for pass/fail only.

I remember that there was some discussion on the old 'closed' list about
this topic, but I'd be interesting in revisiting.

Best wishes
