Greetings All:
I am a Performance Studies student at Northwestern University. My
dissertation research focuses around Trinidad and how movement/dance
facilitate creolized consciousness-building in contemporary Caribbean
settings. As a dancer, choreographer and scholar I am fascinated
with alternative spaces of knowledge creation and discourses of the
body (moving beyond logocentric models of "theorizing"). Would love
to talk with anyone sharing similar interests
I am currently working on a project that focuses on Afro-Trinidadian
and Indo-Trinidadian race relations. Specifically, I am dealing with
perceptions and attitudes towards each other at home (in Trinidad)
and abroad (temporary/permanent migrations). Do these relationships
shift/change outside of Trinidad (i.e. in diasporic contexts)? If
anyone has resource leads I would truly appreciate it.
Also, for Aisha Khan I would love to also have a copy of your
syllabus on the Indian diaspora.
