Natasha's email raises some interesting and important issues, and it will be
increasingly important to ensure that VLEs are accessible to all.
However, it is important to remember that visual impairment of various sorts
are only a small minority of disabilities. The most common disability in HE
is dyslexia, and the presentation issues are not identical. There are also
others such as motor skill impairments (making a mouse difficult to use),
hearing impairment etc..
The JISC funded TechDIS service (http://www.techdis.ac.uk/) can provide
information on these issues.
Finally, I would like to emphasise that a system that is accessible to
people with disabilities will actually be more accessible to everyone.
