Hello Everyone,
We have just come across an 'oddity' in the performance of Bb email
to selected groups. If you turn on the communication area and enable email
and choose "select groups", staff and students can select and send emails to
selected groups. However, if, as staff (or system admin), you go to the
control panel and choose email and choose 'select groups', the email you
send goes to everyone in the course. This happens irrespective of whether
the communication area is enabled or not. In short it appears to be
impossible for staff to send emails to specific groups without also giving
students that option.
We are running Bb 5.5, so perhaps this is a known bug that has been
fixed in 5.51. Can anyone confirm if that is the case?
Also, I suspect that this is related to some of the other email
problems that have been discussed in the last day or two, because we also
found that the behaviour wasn't just that selected groups didn't work and
the message went to everyone. We found the message went to 'almost'
everyone. I.e. the performance was even more anomalous.
Similarly, we noted during our experiments with this that when we
turned group pages on, not all student email addresses were listed but all
the students were sent the test emails.
Obviously, we'd be grateful for any information that anyone has.
Regards,
Bruce
