Browning'.

MIVSS
Midlands interdisciplinary Victorian Studies Seminar will welcome everyone
who wants to come, and we hope to involve as many people as possible, both
from the Midlands and other regions of the country. We will meet once each
term on a Saturday afternoon. Each year we will choose a broad theme, and
the three seminars will each bring into focus a different aspect of that
theme. Usually two papers will be presented at each session, and the
emphasis will then be on discussion. For the year 2000-01 the theme is
*Victorian Religions*.
DIRECTIONS
To get to the Shakespeare Memorial Room from New Street station, go up the
escalators from the station into the Pallasades shopping centre, follow
signs to the New Street exit (you will be led out of the complex down a
ramp). Turn left along New Street and follow it to the end. A town square
will open up on your right (Victorian Square). Walk through this square
(past the columned Town Hall) and on into Chamberlain Square. Now the
Central Library is directly ahead of you up a curving flight of steps. Go
into the Library Information desk and ask to be directed to the Shakespeare
Memorial Room (you will be directed out of the library again to a nearby
building).
