Women and Citizenship in the Eighteenth Century
ASECS 2002
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Deadline to Submit Abstracts: September 15, 2001
The organizers of this panel seek papers which discuss the political
dimensions of female citizenship. In particular, we are interested in
the ways in which women attempted to address their responsibilities and
rights as citizens through interaction with, or commentary on, the
official institutions of the state: the court, Parliament, elections,
local government, etc. Conversely, we are also interested in papers
which address the manner in which state institutions themselves
conceived of the female citizen. We look forward to receiving papers
from a variety of geographical perspectives, including Ireland, America,
India, etc.
