To Physics and Astronomy Academics,
The invitation to bid in the fourth phase of FDTL (Fund for the
Development of Teaching and Learning) is expected this autumn,
and the disciplines to be involved include Astronomy, Physics
and Mathematics. Only projects based within institutions in England and
Northern Ireland will be eligible to make a bid.
Information about the previous three phases of FDTL is available
from:
http://www.ncteam.ac.uk/
The Physical Sciences LTSN Centre aims to help the Physics and
Astronomy communities to take advantage of this source of
funding by providing relevant information and by facilitating
discussion between those interested in participating. In the
first instance we are doing this by:
1) A mailing list, [log in to unmask], has been set up,
and you can join by sending a message to [log in to unmask]
with no subject title and containing only the text:
join [log in to unmask] Firstname Lastname
We are hoping that discussion on this list will help to group
those interested in common themes, and to promote forward
looking and imaginative bids.
2) A meeting is being organised to take place on November 28th in
Birmingham. This will be a joint meeting with the Mathematics
community, with the aim of providing a forum for discussing
proposed projects and having the opportunity to share ideas
with others, or for establishing new collaborators. You will also
have the opportunity to meet previous successful FDTL bidders.
The invitations to bid are expected in October, with a January
deadline for the first stage of the bidding process.
Regards,
Simone Richardson.
