Interestingly, when I looked at the page I don't get the story - just an
add for the Alliance & Leicester. Are we sure that it's not Nigel
Hardman playing dirty? On the other hand, using the Telegraph search
enginge for "Barclays deeds" comes up with Screaming Lord Sutch's obit
as the only hit!
The subject of banks' "Safe Custody" of deeds is one that in past months
has been ventilated in The Family History magazine. The line there has
been that the banks now have no need to hold onto deeds and that
anything over 30 years old should be deposited with the local record
office.
