Following on from Pam's earlier message, it's also worth pointing
out that the UNESCO Thesaurus is available on the web: see
http://www.ulcc.ac.uk/unesco/
It can be purchased on a CD ROM published by UNESCO
(UNESCO Databases), though that includes a number of other
databases in addition to the Thesaurus: the web site above
includes links relating to how to purchase the CD.
With UNESCO's permission, the Thesaurus data was recently
given by ULCC to ADLIB Information Systems
(http://www.uk.adlibsoft.com/) with a view to their incorporating it as
a "no extra cost" option for purchasers of their cataloguing
software. It has also recently been given to a supplier of museum
management software. I would be interested to hear from any other
suppliers of archive, library, records management or museums
software who would like to incorporate the Thesaurus into their
packages.
