You may be interested in the UK Data Archive thesaurus, HASSET (Humanities
and Social Science Thesaurus, that has been adapted from the original UNESCO
thesaurus. Please see pages at

We also have a EC project (LIMBER) to look at a reduced multilingual version
of this, called ELSST (European Langauge Social Science Thesaurus). You can
