The Gloucestershire Record Office has advertised the following today 4 July
2001. These posts would be suitable for someone wanting to gain pre-course
experience in the archive world, so could I ask that you pass this on to
anyone you know who is looking for such work.
Many thanks

The Gloucestershire Record Office is acting as the lead authority in a
regional archives project to convert catalogues for inclusion in a national
database, as part of the Access to Archives (A2A) project. This Project is
supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The catalogues relate
to records of schools and parish churches throughout the south-west of
England. We now need five committed and interested people to help achieve
this in a tight timescale based at the Record Office in Alvin Street,
Gloucester.
The work involves analysing and marking up catalogues ready for others to
key in elsewhere. (There will be no data input work.) Training will be
given.
If you have English and Maths GCSE (at grade c or above) or equivalent and
an interest in history or archives, contact us to find out more. Please
ring Corporate Services, Personnel Unit on 01452 425255 (24- hour
voicemail).
