While the skulls would contain some slag I think the main problem would have
been the same as today. The shape of the pieces makes handling difficult.
The labour needed to handle them and break them up probably accounted for
the difference in value. While they were smaller than today the
oxy-acetylene burning lamps and breaking balls we use didn't exist.
