Dear colleagues
I study the history of blacksmith craft with the application of
metallography. The main problem discussing in Russian archaeological
literature is the problem of appearance and diffusion the sandwich
technology (iron-steel-iron). This technique was appeared on Eastern Europe
in VIII-IX c. AD. One supposes that it had been brought to Slavonic and
Finnish tribes by Vikings. I should like to know the opinion of western
scientists. Could anybody writes me literature on question?
