Has anyone else had a helpful e-mail from the SLC listing students from the
1999/0 academic year still showing as being on Temporary course codes.
Having recovered from the surprise as to how long the list was I discoverd
that out of the first 7 names listed, we had received the fees for 3 and 2
more had been reported as not in attendance.
What disturbed me most was the comment that we needed to notify the LEA's of
the correct codes because they were about to produce the Final Attendance
Confirmation Report for 1999/0.
My understanding is that there is no time limit on financial re-assessments so
we could still have tuition fees clawed back by the SLC for 1999/0 so it seems
contradictory to say that we could not be paid for any student who
subsequently came to light, (I appreciate that in an ideal world we should not
still be sorting out 1999/0 fees but this is not .....).
Given that most of the students on our list came from 2 LEA's and that we have
already been through this exercise once with them, are we being told that if
the LEA does not send revised notifications we are not going to get the fees ?
I still do not understand why HEI's should not be paid for students on
temporary course codes. Why don't they pay the fees on the basis that anyone
on a temporary course code is doing a 3 year course and then if it
subsequently gets amended to something different claw back the fees if
required ?
