Dear Colleagues,
Following on from my earlier email about exam re-entry fees, the following
is a summary of the responses I received:-
11 institutions responded of whom:-
1. All Colleges charge for students who are repeating attendance, unless
they have progressed to the next year of their programme.
2. 2 Colleges mentioned charging a fee (£50 & £75) for students resitting
exams overseas.
3. 5 Colleges do not charge resit fees at all (where a student is completing
the assessment only, i.e. not repeating attendance).
4. Other colleges levy either a flat-rate fee or a fee per module/subject,
or a combination of the two, as follows:-
£52 per module/subject up to a maximum of £260
£65 per module/subject up to a maximum of £390
£45 per module/subject up to a maximum of £105
£36 flat fee plus £1 for each credit examined
£80 flat fee plus £40 per module
Flat fee of £135
At UCL we currently charge £40 per unit up to a maximum of £160 for
undergraduate students and £37 per subject (£111 for a dissertation) up to a
maximum of £222 for graduate students. We also charge a £60 flat fee for
any graduate student who wishes to sit their exams overseas (in addition to
the resit fee).
Many thanks to everyone who provided me with information.

Subject: Exam re-entry fees
Dear Colleagues,
We are currently reviewing our exam re-entry fees for non-registered
students (who do not receive any tuition).
I should be grateful for any information on whether your university charges
students to resit exams and what your fees are.
Please reply direct to me ([log in to unmask]).
Many thanks.
Emma Potts
