Could I please ask for your help.
I am having a problem with the LEAs over course codes. I was
lead to believe that where a UCAS code covered more than one
course that I was to identify additional courses by the University
programme code. The SLC then allocate their own course code to
these courses. Unfortunately the SLC does not let the University
know what the course code is that has been allocated. The
problem arises where I inform the LEA of a change of programme
where I am using the programme code as an indentifier and they
have the SLC course code as identifier.
AT a conference a couple of weeks back, where there were
representives of the LEAs, HEIs,SLC and DFEE, I brought up this
subject and asked what I should do about a course code on the
Change of Programme form where the University used the
programme code and the SLC their own code. I was advised to
leave the course identifier blank on the form. A representative from
an LEA agreed with me that the LEAs would not be happy with
this. The SLC representative said that the LEA should be able to
identify the course by title without the need of a course identifier.
Can you please advise me. Was I given the wrong information
initially when we were first asked for the course details last year? I
feel I must have either been given the wrong information or have
misinterpreted information somewhere along the line as there has
not been anything on the e'mail from other HEIs having a similar
problem.
With thanks
