Dear Sid (and the rest of the list)
Just to add to Susanna's email: anti-bullying policies are useful
only if they're acted on, and many institutions have great policies
but very little action, particularly against harassment and bullying
on the grounds of sexuality and disability.
I'd suggest you contact Kidscape (their director is Michele Elliott),
which is an experienced and effective campaign organisation
against bullying and harassment.
Create an atmosphere promoting diversity and where any form of
bullying and harassment is swiftly and effectively challenged, and
your students will really benefit.
I know it's easier said than done - good luck!
all the best,
Tracy
