Dear Clinton (and all others who may have been shocked by Christopher's
colourful remark):
No, George did not "harass" Bill East off the list, nor did Bill anything
that would have warranted such an action on the part of the listowner(s).
What happened instead was a disagreement between George (speaking in the
name of, and supported by, the listowners) and Bill (speaking for himself
and for another member), a fairly legitimate disagreement I would say where
each party held views that merit consideration but are not easily
reconciled, and at a certain point it was Bill who decided to leave the
list. We did not suggest it to him, but we accepted his decision, though
not without regret. However, there are definitely no bad feelings on our --
the listowner's -- side, and I hope that Bill too, notwithstanding our
disagreement, is still thinking of us as friends.
I hope not to appear rude or authoritarian if I suggest that further
questions or comments should rather be sent to George personally than to
the whole list.
Yours,
Otfried
