You can find an excellent map of Norse invasion of Britanny on p. 146 of
the "Cultural Atlas of the Vivking World", Facts on File, ed. by
Graham-Campbell, Collen Batey et al., 1994, ISBN 0-8160-3004-9. And yes,
the invasions began in the 890's A.D.
As for the conhospitae, what role did women have in the service of the
table in Brittany of this period; perhaps this text is reflecting merely
the preference for the local secular customs of the day, rather than a
theological statement about the role of women in ecclesiatical affaris.
