We are part of the pilot scheme for pre-reg housemen in general practice
- we have had 4 so far and it has been a great success (not sure how I
would measure that though)
Certainly the housemen say they learn far more about life in the real
world than they had done in hospital - and are grateful for the insight
into the difficulties and rewards of management of illness in the
community
I hope it continues to run
(oh, but we don't get to abuse them with never ending bloods, repeated
routine clerking, trying to organise theatre lifts, keeping lab
technicians happy and willing and all those other useful educational
activities they get elsewhere ;-)
Cheers
