My advice would be not to do it. CD-ROMs are thought to have a lifespan
in excess of 50 years but it is unlikely that the hardware to read them
will be mainstream for much more than another 10 years or so. Just think
of the progression of media storage (and access) for PCs in relatively
recent times. Accessing data held on cassette tape and 5.25 inch disks
is already very difficult. Floppy (3.5 inch) drives are starting to wain
with zip drives becoming increasingly present on new PCs. There are also
major developments going on in terms of optical media of which the
CD-ROM is a part.
