Dear Taha,
The book I mentioned is "Introduction to Econophysics", by R.N Mantegna and
H.E Stanley at Cambridge University Press.
There is another interesting book on the interplay between physics and
finance by Bouchaud and Potters, "Theory of financial risks" at Cambridge
University Press. The whole book is not for a beginner in modelling and
probability, but the first chapters are readable at an undergraduate level.
Nonetheless, I re-advise you to browse http://www.unifr.ch/econophysics/
and read the books review section.

Hi,
Book by Mantegna and Stanley is rather good on that matter. Don't remember
exactly the title. Browse on Econophysics forum web site
http://www.unifr.ch/econophysics/ to have more precise details. Don't know
if it is suitable for freshman undergrads.

Subject: r'ship between physics and economics
Hi,
I am a senior undergrad majoring in finance. I have an upcoming
presentation - for a class in general physics (introductory) - about the
application of physics in economics. I have read numerous books and papers
on the web talking abt the pareto-levy and the gaussian distribution, and
i must admit most of i it dont understand. Even if I give it my best shot,
im sure my audience wont understand my presentation (as they are mostly
freshman undergrads). So i was hoping if someone could help me by
providing me a clearer (and riduulosly simpler) picture of how physics has
a played a role in economics.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated
Taha Rangwala
