I'm not sure there are any assumptions to be made here, are there? I have
a sneaking sympathy for the giant myself, but you don't have to be an
Artegall to have doubts about the gawking multitude's susceptibility to
being bamboozled. I'm more interested in what one might want to be
interested in for a modern Variorum, real or fantsized. There is, of
course, a new edition of Spenser in the works, but that's another
