Can any of my esteemed colleagues, especially those knowledgeable in
canon law, point me towards some primary sources or modern works that
discuss the meaning and use of metaphors in law? In particular, I am
interested in the metaphorical use of law on one subject to elucidate
the law on another subject, as, for example, the use of marriage law
to clarify the law concerning episcopal elections (since the bishop
would be "married" to his church). Any references would be much
appreciated.
