Of course there are the Gothic "Vierges ouvrantes/ Virgenes
abrideras" (what is the English equivalent?) a sort of portable
anthropomophic altars which in some cases have the
Trinity inside. This reminds me that it was this particular iconography
(and not the Annunciation with Child) the object of Gerson's censure
