I must apologise for having posted a query containing incorrect information.
I have looked again at my source. The place was Hollows End not Hollow
Oak. At the same time I looked at the amount paid for carriage from the
tinplate works in the Stour valley to Hollow End, and the rate from there
to London. Contrary to what I had though the majority of the payment. A
box of tinplate cost about 3d to carry to Hollows End and about 42d to carry
on to London. If I am right in estimating the total distance at 120 miles
and the same rate applies to both sections, Hollows End was no more than 10
miles from Stourport, probably somewhere that goods could be passed from a
local carrier to one operating between the Black Country and London.
I would still like to know where Hollows End is, but it must be in north
Worcestershire or the Black Country. Does any one know where?
