PERSPECTIVES OF SCIENCE IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE -
EMERGING DIRECTIONS FROM THE PAST TEN YEARS
A NATO Science Forum will take place in Dresden, Germany, on 30 November
to
1 December next, to review the state of science in Central and Eastern
Europe ten years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This NATO Science
Forum is being organized by the journal 'NATURE', in collaboration with
the
Volkswagen Foundation, and is co-sponsored by the European Science
Foundation.
A web site has been set up for the Forum by the organizers, at
http://www.esf.org/Coll/conf/Dresden.htm Although participation in the
Forum is by invitation only, the organizers wish to open the debate to a
wider audience through the Internet, and visitors to the web site are
given
the opportunity to comment on the meeting and its programme or make a
contribution to the topics to be discussed. Comments will be relayed to
the
meeting. The programme of the Forum is presented at the web site.
Subscribers to "NATOSCI" are invited to submit their comments to the
organizers of the Forum at the web site mentioned
(http://www.esf.org/Coll/conf/Dresden.htm).
