I'm willing to leave that for another discussion, but in spite of the fact
that I got the impetus to produce the tagging from a question from outside
I have some very selfish reasons to get this right. I'm doing related
things myself :) So, please send me your criticism, I'll be grateful, and
so will our digitalization program for medieval manuscripts....
As regards your interesting considerations below, I think that they should
be refined a bit and then forwarded to the dc-libraries and dc-agents.
They are the ones will provide us with the functional requirements for
names as well as for titles.
We're in a shady area here. It is not well understood as regards RDF and
DC. There was a fameous Finnish ornithologist whose name was
"Lars von Hartmann"
The last name first principle should in this case be.
"von Hartmann, Lars"
but in a bibliography his name has to be sorted by
"Hartmann"
or that is at least the Nordic bibliographic practices. Then add date
ranges, and controlled spelling, (Chaikowskij ;)
Even now when most of us agree that we'll need an "agent core", this is
complicated. The good news is that this is still easier than (say) the
one-to-one principle.
